GEORGEFM Presents NIGHTCAP
posted 15 June 2010Marking the final week before universities return for their second semester comes -NIGHTCAP - The newly formed Winter Music Tour of New Zealand's major cities brought to you by the one and only Madcap Touring. Giving punters an excuse to brave the cold and unite for one night of hedonistic partying to some of the finest artists across NZ and the world, in venues handpicked to give the party the optimum atmosphere possible!
With one of the hottest and freshest lineups ever seen by a Tour in New Zealand - rather than watered-down Aussie brands or DJs not relevant to the NZ scene Nightcap focusses on what acts KIWIs want to hear!
From the UK we have dubstep and drum n bass Goliath NERO - Who has smashed all boundaries with his genre-bending tunes - he has put is magic touch on the likes of La Roux, Deadmau5, The Streets and Drake, been signed to Chase and Status' label, won top Dubstep artist at the 2010 beatport awards and epic new single 'Innocence' is destroying dancefloors worldwide - NERO is likely to tear Nightcap apart until there's little more than bewildered faces and remnants of insane sub-bass.
The now Los Angeles dwelling ADAM FREELAND is a true pioneer of dance music, and his recent album 'COPE' has once again pushed the boundaries of electronica (think Indie-Electro with Tommy Lee on drums and you're a tenth of the way there) . A name in the scene that has been around for a long time - Adam is a true performer and a Freeland set is so packed with explosive energy, fresh dynamic tunes and big room finesse that people are literally unable to leave the floor until it ends, at which point, they want it to happen all over again..
Infamous party-starters from Australia - The Bang Gang Deejays mark their place on the lineup as just that, expect tunes that fill floors, cheeky antics behind the decks, and no boundaries whatsoever musically! Known seperately (and aptly) as Jamie Doom & Gus The Hoodrat, the Bang Gang boys started trends across the ditch and here that will die hard! But they are the originators of this loose, mash-up style and still the best in the business at it - and now with their record label by the same name churning out some of the most upfront bombs the electronica industry has seen in a long while, they have even more in their weaponry when it comes to causing anarchy in a party!
The Auckland gig will be fortunately (or mis-fortunately depending on your point of view) be graced with mr. Tom Piper. A man who works at 3 thousand miles an hour and talks even faster, playing everything from Dutch to Dubstep, his frenzied work looks like it is starting to pay off with remix credits such as Dizzee Rascal, Empire Of The Sun, P-Money, Sidney Sampson, plus a track on Laidback Lukes label, three record labels of his own and a jam packed calendar across Asia and Australia - Tom will inject some 'freshness' into the Auckland gig in his true hectic style - brrap!
Rounding off the tour lineup on all shows are local Drum N Bass heroes State Of Mind , Christchurch boys Truth who's razor sharp dubstep productions have seen them gain so much hype to have toured Europe and Russia, Indie-Electronica group going places fast Computers Want Me Dead who inject a much-needed furious live element into Nightcap, and finally for his debut shows the mysterious Mr. Mime, who's eclectic and amazing internet mixtapes have caused as much web intrigue as his mask...
To add to all this there will be a stellar local support lineup in each city, and Nightcaps own mind-blowing production and visuals across the entire tour - so every Nightcap show will be more of a visual and aural experience than merely just another event.
Nightcap works from the bottom to the top of the country - kicking off in Dunedin at Union Hall on the 14th, up to Christchurch's Bedford on the 15th, across the Cooks Straight to the Capitals Garden Bar on the 16th, and finishing off in Auckland for a dual venue event at Studio & Galatos on Saturday 17th.
