Shapeshifter is celebrating 25 years with a very special release that fans will be fizzed for

Straight to the pool room with this one

Shapeshifter; the soundtrack of New Zealand’s dance scene since 1999, hit 25 years in the biz. To celebrate their success, the crew at Holiday Records announced that they are repressing Shapies entire back catalogue along with giving away an exclusive and elusive box set.

Both Sin and Brook caught up with the boys earlier this year and had a yarn about the last 25 years of Shapies. Reminiscing on moments like getting paid in pallets of beer to P Diggsss getting a little bit too silly before a gig and performing facing the wrong way!

We also get to hear the story of how P Diggsss came to be the front man we see today and how he showed up to a gig Shapshifter was playing in hopes of schmoozing with them.

At that time it was quite different…there were lots more collaborative artists coming up and jamming and vocalising. Back in the day it was quite a normal thing to have random people pop up, and I was that random guy.

From being the score to any NZ music festie to finding them in your parents CD cabinet. It goes without saying that Shapshifter has well and truly shaped Aotearoa’s electronic music scene and catered to many generations of Kiwi ravers. Here’s to the big quarter century lads!
