'This is what makes rugby': Māori All Blacks share 'special' post-match celebrations with Japan

Good vibes all 'round!

The absolute mana that was displayed in the club room after the two teams just went head to head, was insane!

Last Saturday The Māori All Blacks played a test match against Japan’s rugby union team in Tokyo and ended their mahi with a good old waiata.

The two teams showed heaps of kotahitanga when they stood together, previously as opponents on the field, then as whānau in the changing rooms.

The Māori All Blacks sang a beautiful waiata and were followed up by their Japanese mates, who joined in with their own song ‘Nakama’ by Ketsumeishi.

The All Blacks Instagram expressed “This is what makes rugby so special…Two teams connecting in the changing rooms after 80 minutes of intense rugby.”

The two cultures came together and created such a wholesome vibe, described by commenters as “How everlasting friendships and memories are made”, “A wonderful exchange [of] culture 🏈👏 A fun-filled atmosphere” and “Bravo👏👏👏 What a wonderful scene! This is rugby.🤝”

The respect for Japan that The Māori All Blacks had was also shown in a video of them throwing their match boots to the tamariki in the crowd. The looks on their faces alone tells you they will remember that moment forever.

Not only did the respect show after the game but prior to the match, Japanese tamariki welcomed the Māori team with an awesome haka and were met with another haka in response.

Right on fellas, making your country proud!
