You'd be forgiven for thinking the impact of club classic tunes like 'Sandstorm' might be lost on the younger generation, but a bunch of young Cantabrians have just proved that wrong.
Over 1000 kids from 55 schools came together at the Strum Strike Blow Festival earlier this month to perform Darude's iconic track as an epic “massed item” symphony.
The festival was a mashup of the CHCH Marimba Festival and CHCH Uke Festival at the Wolfbrook Arena. The youngins were armed with recorders, ukuleles and even bloody marimbas, playing along in high spirits.
Fair to say the event was an absolute ripper and got so many kids buzzing with excitement for their next gig.
Punters “loved it”,saying there was a “perfect balance of great music, celebration, fun and involvement".
