If you've been eyeing up those flash Uber luxury boat rides available in Europe and are getting jealous as, don't you worry - Uber NZ has sussed a winter adventure version that's eeeeven better, because it won't cost ya a cent.
To celebrate their 10th birthday in NZ, Uber is offering Uber One customers the opportunity to book a full day of unreal alpine activities for free, We're talking a ride in a snowcat, a day of private skiing and a fancy degustation lunch up in a mountain hut.
Is there a catch? Yep, you can always count on it. There are only 80 slots available to book starting today, and it's first in, first served.
You'll also get a lift from Queenstown to Soho Basin - soon to be part of the Cardrona Ski Field - plus espressos and pastries and apres ski goods you can handle.
You just have to search for 'Uber One Exclusive Ski Experience' in the UberEats app. Reservations are open now (12pm), and there are dates for the experience running over the next few weeks.
I had the chance to give it a go, and trust me, this is one you don’t want to miss.
Now, as much as I love skiing, I’m no Richie McCaw on the slopes. The fresh off-piste tracks were gorgeous and powdery, but a bit of a handful. Let’s just say I spent a fair chunk of time making mates with the snow.
Thankfully, Uber teamed up with expert guides at Soho Basin, who were on hand to make sure we didn’t go completely sideways in the untouched backcountry.
So, a heads up: If you’re all about skiing, you’ll want to have your A-game ready. If not, kick back, enjoy the snowcat ride, and start drooling over the lunch that's to come.
And that lunch - what a treat! After a day in the powder, the high-altitude degustation hit the spot. The menu, put together by the award-winning crew at Amisfield, was a mouth-watering showcase of local flavours.
Every dish was a winner; fresh, hot seafood chowder, braised beef short ribs… and a cheesecake covered in freshly grated black truffle?! It was honestly unreal. Dining up in the clouds felt pretty special.
What really got me was how personal the whole experience felt. If you score one of these spots, you’ll feel like a VIP all day.
So, if you’re one of the lucky 80 who get to experience this for free, you’re in for an absolute treat.
