Matt McBriar reveals 'rare', major health issue behind Bicep's festival cancellation

He explained why the DJ duo would be a one man show "until further notice".

It's not  something we had on our 2024 bingo cards - but Matt McBriar from Bicep has been kicked back a few notches after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The poor fella went for some tests early this year after experiencing major headaches since late 2023. Those results  “ indicated  that something was wrong" so his GP arranged an MRI followed by a CT scan., he explained on instagram.

McBriar was then hit with the devastating news that doctors had “discovered a large, and pretty rare Craniopharyngioma tumour” in his brain.

McBriar said he was lucky, as if it was left longer he would have experienced some loss of sight.

“The good news is firstly, it’s almost certainly not cancerous and secondly, I’ve caught it in the earlier stages of damage"

Bicep were booked to play at Boardmasters festival in Newquay a few days ago, but had to cancel at the last minute due to “unforeseen personal circumstances” - which now makes a whole lotta sense.

One half of the duo, McBriar, will be out of action for the next 6-8 weeks and his counterpart Andy will be performing upcoming shows as Bicep solo "until further notice".

The rest of Bicep's audio visual shows ‘CHROMA’ will be run as a one man band.

Heaps of our favourites in the game poured out their love and support in the comments, with Disclosure sending "lots of love" and advising McBriar to "rest and up stay strong".

Meanwhile, Tali wrote: “Rest up and all the best for your healing journey. We look forward to seeing you again when you're fully recovered. In the meantime, love and blessings your way x ♥️💪💪”

Both the boys from Bicep are over the moon with the amount of support from their fans and fellow artists, with McBriar calling it "incredible", adding "I can't say this enough".
